Our vetting process
To ensure we maintain a trusted and professional roster, all nanny candidates complete a thorough screening process.
Step 1: Interested nannies will complete an expression of interest questionnaire and submit a current resume and 1-3 childcare references.
Step 2: We will invite you for an in-person interview to get to know you better, learn more about your childcare style and philosophy, and find out what kind of families might be a good fit for you.
Step 3: We will run a background check and contact your references.
Step 4: If selected, you join our active nanny roster list. Once on our list you will be contacted when a potential family might be a good fit. You will also be invited to attend all professional development workshops and events.
What happens after a match takes place? All negotiations and contracts are strictly between the nanny and the family. Cumberland Nanny Company is not involved in this part of the process. However, we are available for support and any actively matched nannies have ongoing access to our professional development workshops and networking events.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What does it mean to join your nanny roster?
Being part of our roster means you’ll be considered for positions that match your experience, availability, location, and preferences. We take the time to get to know each nanny so we can make thoughtful matches with families. - Is there a fee to join your roster?
No. There is no cost for nannies to apply to be on our roster or be considered for positions. - Am I guaranteed a job if I join the roster?
No. Joining our roster does not guarantee placement, but it allows us to contact you when opportunities align with your qualifications and preferences. - What if my availability changes?
Just let us know! We can update your profile to reflect new availability, locations, or scheduling preferences. - Can I bring my own child with me?
Not at this time. Right now we are only considering nannies for our roster who can work alone. We hope to add this option in the future. - Can I join the roster if my availability is just for date nights or occasional care?
Not at this time. Right now we are only inviting nannies to join our roster who are looking for part-time (20-30 hours/week) or full time (32+ hours/week) positions. - If a family decides they want to hire me, what happens next?
After a match is made, all negotiations and contracts (including hours, pay rate, benefits, etc.) are arranged directly between the nanny and the family. Cumberland Nanny Company is not involved in that part of the process. However, nannies who are actively working with families matched through us still have access to our professional development workshops, trainings, and events.
